Had a Break In
This past Tuesday when I arrived at my shop I realized it had been broken into in the night. The burglar broke a set of aluminum double doors on the side of my shop and stole about $600 worth of tools out of my shop.
They stole
-Senco Framing Nailer
-Senco Brad Nailer
-Bostitch Roofing Gun
-Dewalt RO Sander
-Dewalt 14.4v Cordless Drill
-Case of Kreg Pockethole Screws
-Face mask Respirator
I was so disapointed when I realized what was stolen. I hadnt gotten my insurance finalized yet so none of the items stolen where re-inbursed. Not much I can do about it now except hope that the police find my tools or that I find them in a local pawn shop. Now I am getting insurance as soon as I can!

Change in plans
Hi Everyone,
Were going to make left turn and set some of our wood turning projects aside and, heavens to betsy, make some square shaped items.
My oldest son is moving out and getting a place of his own and that poor critter doesnt have any furniture. I used to make furniture and Ive made a lot my furniture here at home and so Im going to help him out. Im going to make him a coffee table using plumbing pipe (see my other blog Piperooo for all the stuff you can do with ordinary plumbing pipe) and inset some tile into the top, so it will last and look nice.
Im going to need a work table for all this so Im gearing up to make one over the next several days and then well get going. I might even make him a bed frame too.
So look out world! Selkie Wood Works takes on the "square world!"
See you later,
VW

DIY in 1 hour or Less Fabric Mousepad
Yesterday I was looking down at my mousepad and it I was thought, why have I left it this ugly for so long?? Do you ever just have to fix something right away?
I grabbed a few supplies that I have on hand and 10 minutes later I had a brand new mousepad!

Heres how I did it ...
I did it two ways, so heres the first.
I tore off the top of the mousepad (it was loose and came off easily, but it could have stayed on) and then I traced the mousepad with a pencil on the fabric.

I cut along the pencil marks with an xacto knife.

For the second mousepad I decided that it would be easier to not trace the mousepad and cut the fabric separately, but to apply the spray adhesive to the mousepad and then put it on the fabric (right side out). I then simply cut carefully along the edge with scissors. To finish, I used Mod Podge to seal the edges. Id recommend this method since it was faster (maybe just 5 minutes), but both methods were super quick, so either would work well!

and then took it outside to spray the top of the mouspad with spray adhesive. I laid the fabric on top and trimmed any stray fabric. To help seal the edges I applied a little Mod Podge (any clear craft glue would work) with my finger along the edge.

Here they are in their new homes!

Such a great way to use extra fabric and match your space!
Total Cost ZERO - since I had everything on hand! Arent those projects the best??
fall in vermont
it wouldnt be fall in vermont without a few foliage pics from yours truly. the season started off kind of slow and brown, but the colors have come on like always now. ive been sort of chained to the table saw lately, but tuesday i did go for a ride up to whiting to look at some lumber. i stuck my camera out the window a couple of times as i was driving ( i wasnt texting) and got kind of lucky a couple of those times. at the bottom i threw in a few of sams new belt buckles, in case you are not into leaves ... all foliage pictures, route 30 north, dorset to whiting .... click the photos to enlarge them ...
